2024

Clinical quality


  • U.S. News & World Report ranked the combined programs of Scripps Green Hospital and Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla among the best in the nation in six specialties — Cardiology, Heart and Vascular Surgery (No. 23), Orthopedics (No. 28), Gastroenterology and GI Surgery (No. 34), Diabetes and Endocrinology (No. 38), Geriatrics (No. 39) and Obstetrics and Gynecology (No. 41) — in their annual Best Hospitals list.   
  • Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas was named among the top 100 hospitals in the nation by health care technology and services platform PINC AI. Recognized in the medium community hospitals category, Scripps Encinitas was the only hospital in Southern California to make the prestigious list this year.
  • U.S. News & World Report ranked Scripps Clinic Ambulatory Surgery Center - Rancho Bernardo and Scripps Encinitas Surgery Center as high performing on their list of Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers.
  • Scripps Green Hospital and Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas received an “A” grade for patient safety in Spring 2024 from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization.
  • Becker’s Hospital Review recognized Scripps Cancer Center among 100 institutions on its 2024 list for excellence in oncology.

  • Fortune magazine ranked Scripps Health No. 8 on its Best Workplaces in Health Care annual list for large health care companies.
  • Scripps Health has been named one of the top employers in the nation by Fortune magazine for the 16th time. It was the only health system in California and one of five health care organizations nationally to make the 100 Best Companies to Work For list this year.
  • Becker’s Healthcare ranked Scripps Health to its 2024 list of 150 top places to work in health care.
  • RogueHire selected Scripps Health for the fifth year in a row. This year, Scripps Talent Acquisition team earned the 2024 Raving Fan Award for hiring manager satisfaction.

  • U.S. News & World Report ranked the combined programs of Scripps Green Hospital and Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla among the best in the nation in five specialties — Orthopedics (No. 16), Cardiology, Heart and Vascular Surgery (No. 24), Obstetrics and Gynecology (No. 35), Gastroenterology and GI Surgery (No. 37) and Geriatrics (No. 39) — in their annual Best Hospitals list.   
  • Four Scripps Health hospital campuses — Scripps Green Hospital, Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas, Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla and Scripps Mercy Hospital Chula Vista — have received an “A” grade for patient safety from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization.
  • Scripps Health was named among the top 5 medium-sized US health systems in the nation by PINC AI, for the seventh time. The annual 15 top health systems list was acquired earlier this year by Premier Inc. from Merative, formerly IBM Watson Health. Scripps is the only health provider in California to be included among a broader list covering the top 15 large, medium and small systems across the United States.
  • Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla ranked among the top 50 cardiovascular hospitals by Fortune magazine and Premier’s PINC AI, a health care improvement and technology company.
  • Becker’s Hospital Review named Scripps La Jolla Hospitals including Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla and Scripps Green Hospital to its Great hospitals in America list. These hospitals are known for clinical excellence, patient safety and more.
  • Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla, Scripps Green Hospital and Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas earned five-star ratings from The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services in its Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings for 2023.
  • The California Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI) awarded all of Scripps’s hospitals with the “sustained” award in the Opioid Care Honor Roll, receiving a superior performance rating. Hospitals achieving superior performance have implemented advanced, innovative opioid stewardship strategies across multiple service lines, consistently achieving the highest level of performance.
  • California Maternal Quality Care Collaborative awarded Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas, Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego and Scripps Mercy Hospital Chula Vista with the Quality and Sustainability Award for NTSV Cesarean Birth Rate (PC-02). Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla was awarded the Quality and Sustainability Award for Maternal Safety Standards Implementation and the Maternal Data Center Superstar Award for Large Birth Volume Hospitals. Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas received the Maternal Data Center Superstar Award for Medium Birth Volume Hospitals.
  • For the sixth consecutive year, the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association awarded all five Scripps hospitals with the Stroke Gold Quality Achievement Award for 2023. The award recognizes hospitals that deliver high-quality, life-saving stroke care. The Joint Commission also certified our four Scripps emergency rooms as Primary Stroke Centers. This means our hospitals have the critical elements in place to achieve long-term success after stroke.


Leadership


  • For the fifth consecutive year, Scripps was named one of the “Most Wired” health systems in the nation by College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) for acute care and ambulatory organizations.

Scripps is in the top 1% of 1,200 hospital recruiting organizations across the country, and one of only six health systems across the nation to achieve this recognition.
