Web Accessibility Statement
Updated: January 2024
Scripps Health strives to ensure its services are accessible to everyone. Consistent with our mission to provide superior health services in a caring environment, Scripps is firmly committed to making our websites easier to use for people with a wide range of abilities.
To achieve this, we routinely optimize the website code to adhere as closely as possible to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2. These guidelines are an industry standard that define how to make websites accessible to people with disabilities.
In addition to website code updates, Scripps.org uses a website accessibility widget to offer visitors the best experience possible. The widget allows people to adjust the website’s design and functionality to meet their individual needs. Also, this AI-powered technology runs in the background to constantly identify and remediate issues related ADA and WCAG compliance.
Using the accessibility menu
The accessibility settings on Scripps.org can be turned on by hitting the tab key when the page first loads, clicking the accessibility icon in the bottom left corner of the screen or clicking the link below.
After opening the widget, please wait a moment for the accessibility menu to load in its entirety.
Some menu options and profiles include:
- Language translation — Instantly translates the website from English to over 40 other languages. Language translation is activated by clicking on “English (USA)” after the accessibility widget opens and selecting the preferred language.
- Screen reader — Speaks aloud the content without needing to install an external screen reader.
- Visually impaired profile — Adjusts the website so it’s easier to read with a visual impairment, such as tunnel vision, cataract or glaucoma.
- Dyslexia profile — Uses a dyslexia friendly font to enhance readability and also pauses animations to reduce distractions.
The widget offers a variety of other settings and profiles to personalize each experience.
Notes
Our goal is to create an online experience that is as seamless and enjoyable as possible. We are continuously updating and improving the site and exploring new technologies and solutions. We aim to reach the highest level of accessibility on Scripps.org and our other websites, providing access to our services to anyone and everyone.
