MyScripps Mobile App Privacy Policy
Effective Date: 10/09/24
Your privacy is important to Scripps Health. The protected health information you provide or access through the MyScripps Patient Portal Mobile Application (the “App”) is subject to our Notice of Privacy Practices.
Information Collected through Your Device. When you download, access, or use the App, the App may (depending on your device or App permission settings) have access to certain information from your device, such as:
- Device ID and Device Information. The App may use your device ID (including your device’s advertising identifier) to recognize your mobile device and to provide you a better experience. The App may also collect information about your mobile device including the model of device used and its operating system, and the version of our mobile app used. We may use this information to understand how our App performs when you use it.
- Storage. The App may need to access the stored files on your device in order for you to upload files, such as a photocopy of your insurance.
- Camera and photos. The App may utilize your device’s camera or access your device’s photos to facilitate telehealth functionality.
- Microphone. The App may access your microphone to facilitate the audio when you utilize our telehealth functionality.
- Location. The App may offer location-based check-in for in-person appointments or allow you to find healthcare providers near you. We do not store your location data.
For certain information collected through your device, we may ask for your consent within the App. You do not have to provide consent if you do not want to allow MySripps to interact with your information as requested. You may be able to change how we collect certain information by modifying your App permission settings. Please note: changing your App permission settings may limit the functionality of these features on the App.
Additionally, you may be able to log into the App using your device’s login features such as using a passcode. These device login features are facilitated through your device, not Scripps Health; we do not control these features.
With your permission, the App can connect to Apple HealthKit, Google Fit, or similar applications to process your health information and to share that information with your healthcare provider. When you choose to use these applications, Epic creates encrypted identifiers to identify the recipients of your data and store them on your device in app-private storage. If you choose to stop using these applications or delete our App, the identifiers are deleted.
We will store information collected via our App for no longer than is necessary for the performance of our obligations or to achieve the purposes for which the information was collected, or as may be permitted under applicable law.
MyScripps is powered by Epic Systems Corporation. Learn more about Epic’s privacy practices and the limited ways they may interact with your information when you use the App. To the extent we grant third parties’ access to information collected via your mobile device, they are expected to follow privacy practices no less protective than our practices to the extent allowed by applicable law.
