Barbara Price joined Scripps Health in 2001 and is corporate senior vice president of strategy and planning. In her role, she provides leadership and oversight for the strategic planning and annual performance objectives including systems that drive alignment around and ensure execution of key strategic priorities.
Previously, Price led the startup of the Accountable Care Organization, business and care line development at Scripps, providing expertise and guidance for the growth of Scripps’ clinical care lines, post-acute care and the operationalization of “Value by Design,” a system-wide process improvement program based on Lean business practices.
Price has extensive experience working with medical group and health system operations within competitive health care environments. Prior to joining Scripps, Price held leadership positions with Kaiser Permanente, Sharp Healthcare, KPMG Peat Marwick, Sequoia Hospital, and Stanford University Medical Center. As a consultant, her clients included large medical groups, academic and community hospitals, integrated health care systems and other health care organizations.
Price received a Bachelor of Arts from Stanford University and holds a Master of Business Administration from the Walter Haas School of Business, University of California, Berkeley. She has been recognized with a Tribute to Women and Industry Award by the YWCA, and is a board member of the Institute for Healthcare Advancement, focusing on health literacy issues and improvement.
