Rina Jain, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in knee replacement and total hip replacement. Her patients come to her for orthopedic care from across the San Diego region, as well as Temecula, Murrieta and El Centro. Dr. Jain is among an emerging number of orthopedic surgeons who offer Scripps knee surgery patients the choice of conventional or robotic-assist procedures using the FDA-approved Smith & Nephew NAVIO device. The device differs from other robotic-assist knee replacement surgery devices in that it doesn’t require the patient to undergo a pre-surgical CT scan, providing convenience and reduced radiation exposure. Dr. Jain offers partial (also called “uni”) knee replacements using the NAVIO.
Over the course of her medical career, Dr. Jain has been honored with several awards for research and education efforts. She has been a practicing orthopedic surgeon for nearly two decades. Dr. Jain is a member of leading professional organizations, including the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, California Orthopedic Association, California Medical Association, the Ruth Jackson Orthopedic Society, and the San Diego County Medical Society. She has written or contributed to articles and scientific presentations in publications including International Journal of Surgical Investigation, Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery and International Orthopaedics. She also serves as a reviewer for the Journal of Arthroplasty.
Dr. Jain is actively involved in volunteering, teaching and speaking locally on topics of osteoarthritis, robotic-assisted knee replacement surgery, hip fracture surgical approaches and total hip replacement. She also has served twice as Medical Volunteer Team Captain for the San Diego Rock ’N’ Roll Marathon. In her spare time, Dr. Jain enjoys reading, exercise and ballroom dancing.
