Herman Skorobogaty, MD, is a general surgeon with clinical expertise in laparoscopic, hernia, cancer and breast surgery. He has a high-volume surgical practice and performs a wide spectrum of surgical procedures, from simple lipoma removals to gastrointestinal surgeries, such as colon and gallbladder surgeries, hernia repair via laparoscopic or open approach, as well as complex hernia repairs, requiring reconstruction of the abdominal wall. In addition, he performs surgeries to detect and treat different types of cancer, including breast cancer, colon cancer, and melanoma.
Dr. Skorobogaty believes in delivering patient-centered care with compassion. He treats his patients as individuals, customizing each surgery to accommodate their needs and goals. In addition to using minimally invasive techniques, he pays special attention to pain control and increasing comfort and quality of life for patients after surgery. He also believes that close communication between the patient, the primary care physician and the surgeon is the key to successful surgical care.
He is a fellow and diplomat of the American College of Surgeons, a diplomat of the American Board of Surgery, and a member of the societies in all areas of his expertise, including the Society of Surgeons of the Alimentary Tract (SSAT), the Society of American Gastroenterological Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), the American Hernia Society, the American Society of Breast Surgeons and the San Diego County Medical Association.
His teaching duties involve training general surgery residents and advanced laparoscopy fellows. In his free time, he loves to stay active and enjoys swimming, backpacking, traveling and spending time with his wife and two daughters.
