As an allergist and immunologist, Brian Modena, MD, treats patients with immune system disorders, environmental allergies, eczema, hives, angioedema, and allergic reactions to drugs, foods and insect stings. He also has a special clinical interest in asthma, particularly those with severe symptoms.
As a current research fellow at The Scripps Research Institute (TSRI) in the field of organ transplant immunology, he is using kidney genes and human microbiome characteristics to discover the immune mechanisms of organ rejection. He has previously published and is actively involved in asthma gene research. He is also working to streamline and improve the patient experience and medical care through the utilization of mobile technology.
Dr. Modena believes optimal medical care occurs when successful communication and trust are combined with compassion. As a strong believer in the importance of regular exercise and a healthy diet, he hopes to work with individuals to develop a personalized medical plan that incorporates lifestyle changes and helps minimize medication use.
In his spare time, he is an avid runner and recently gained an interest in endurance cycling. His other interests include travel, reading and spending time with his family.
