In practice for over 35 years, Allan I. Silver, MD, provides comprehensive gynecologic and obstetrics (OB-GYN) care. His practice offers well-woman exams, management of gynecological problems, cancer screenings and guidance for expectant parents. He has a special clinical interest in laparoscopic (minimally invasive) surgery, vaginal surgery and high-risk pregnancies.
Dr. Silver believes in helping his patients feel at ease and starts each appointment with a private consultation to discuss issues and concerns, before going to the exam room. He takes the time to listen to each patient and understands that addressing emotional health and social concerns are of equal importance to treating physical illness. He believes in open, two-way communication and treats each patient with respect and empathy.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Silver volunteers his services to Project Access, a program through the San Diego County Medical Association that provides medical care to patients without access to health insurance.
When he is not caring for patients, he enjoys oil painting and gardening. He also stays active by jogging.
He is the past chief of the department of obstetrics and gynecology at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla and the past director of women’s services for Project Scripps. He currently practices obstetrics and gynecology at Scripps Clinic, department of obstetrics and gynecology, Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla Campus, which was formerly known as North County OB-GYN Medical Group, Inc.
