Kenneth Shimizu, MD, is a radiation oncologist with expertise in stereotactic radiosurgery including Gamma Knife and SRS/SBRT on our TrueBeam STX , intraoperative radiation therapy (IORT) and managing the care of patients with breast, prostate, skin and brain tumors.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Shimizu conducts research on stereotactic radiosurgery and the treatment of breast cancer with IORT. He also stays informed on new technology to deliver the most advanced care to patients. He believes in compassionate care and working collaboratively with specialists to determine the best, most comprehensive treatment.
Dr. Shimizu has always been fascinated by science, specifically genetics and molecular biology. He has also always had an interest in helping people and doing things to benefit others. In medical school, these two interests lead him toward a specialty in oncology. During his rotation in radiation oncology, he knew he had found his calling. Fighting cancer is both a scientific and human endeavor, and his objective is to win the fight with science and compassion.
In his spare time, he enjoys playing basketball, trying new foods and spending time with his family.
