Walter K. Nahm, MD, is a dermatologist who is fellowship trained in Mohs micrographic surgery, which is the most precise and effective skin cancer treatment. He is also an expert in facial cutaneous reconstruction after Mohs surgery.
His other specialties include laser and cosmetic surgery. As a fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, he has expertise in tumescent liposuction and eyelid and facelift surgery. Dr. Nahm also has extensive experience in laser therapy for wrinkles, brown spots, blood vessels, birthmarks and vascular anomalies.
Other areas of expertise include hair transplantation, cosmetic injectables and dermal fillers, botulinum toxin injection, fat transfer, chemical skin rejuvenation, facial radiofrequency application, leg vein treatment (sclerotherapy) and acne scar treatment. He has performed extensive research on intense pulsed light technology and devices for non-surgical facelift, and has been honored for his work.
He has authored numerous scientific articles and book chapters in the field of dermatology, cellular physiology, cosmetic surgery, laser surgery and skin cancer. He has also given many national lectures and surgical courses on such topics.
Dr. Nahm has a PhD in neuroscience and has been a pioneer in neuron-based receptor physiology in skin cells. His work was specifically recognized by the Society for Investigative Dermatology and the American Academy of Dermatology. He has served as past president of the San Diego Dermatological Society and San Diego Society for Dermatological Surgery.
