Dr. Marshall has been practicing medicine since 1975 and was board certified in Orthopaedic Surgery in 1976. Dr. Marshall received his medical degree from the Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine in 1970. He served his internship in rotating surgical at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and served his residency specializing in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of CA at San Francisco. He was Chief of Surgery at Scripps Memorial, La Jolla from 1994 to 1997 and was Chief of Orthopaedics from 1979 to 1981.
Dr. Marshall is an Associate Clinical Professor for the Department of Surgery, Orthopaedic Section at the University of California, San Diego, serving as Consultant/Director for the knee/hip clinic at the VA Hospital in La Jolla since 1975.
Dr. Marshall serves on the National Committee on Ethics for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons since 1997 to present.
