As an internal medicine specialist, Michael Magpile, MD, provides comprehensive primary care with interests in preventive medicine, geriatrics, and evidence-based treatments and approaches.
Dr. Magpile enjoys working with the senior population and is experienced in working with patients with multiple medical problems. He also works closely with family members and caregivers to coordinate care between multiple providers and specialists.
A teacher at heart, Dr. Magpile seeks to educate and engage his patients. He views the doctor-patient relationship as a partnership where he is able to provide information and treatment options in order for his patients to make informed decisions about their care. He also seeks to treat the whole patient, taking into account the social and emotional aspects, in addition to the physical, for total well-being.
His love of teaching also extends outside of his clinical practice and has been involved as a mentor for the Scripps Clinic internal medicine residency program since 1994. He also served as a voluntary assistant clinical professor for the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine.
Dr. Magpile was the section chief for the division of internal medicine at Scripps Clinic Rancho San Diego from 2008-2012 and has been chosen as a “Top Doc” by San Diego Magazine in 2009, 2011 and 2012.
When he is not caring for patients, he enjoys photography, traveling, bicycling, weight training and spending time with his family, including participating in his children’s various activities. He is also an active volunteer with the St. Vincent De Paul Medical Clinic.
