Douglas Keel, DO, is a highly skilled and experienced dermatologist who combines a meticulous aesthetic eye with the latest techniques in advanced cosmetic and laser surgery.
In addition to his medical dermatology practice, Dr. Keel specializes in non-invasive facial rejuvenation including dermal fillers, laser & IPL treatments and photodynamic therapy. Dr. Keel served in the Navy for over 10 years before joining the Scripps team in 2007. In 2010 Dr. Keel founded Pacific Dermatology & Cosmetic Laser Center, a premiere destination in San Diego for cosmetic rejuvenation and expert skin care.
Throughout his training in dermatology, Dr. Keel was mentored by some of the leading laser and cosmetic surgeons in the country, developing expertise in laser resurfacing, leg vein treatment, liposculpture and hair restoration. In 2002, he was the only physician in the country to receive the prestigious resident research award for surgical applications awarded by the American Society for Lasers in Medicine and Surgery.
Dr. Keel has been an investigator for Allergan (makers of Botox, Juvederm and Latisse), Medicis (Dysport, Restylane and Perlane) and Galderma (Metvixia cream for photodynamic therapy), and has authored numerous manuscripts published in peer-reviewed medical journals. Dr. Keel has been featured on the local news discussing skin cancer prevention, non-invasive facial rejuvenation, scar treatments and the newest facial filler products. He has also been featured in the national media including MSNBC discussing the importance of selecting an appropriate laser surgeon and Elle magazine on the most effective way to eliminate leg veins. Dr. Keel has had opportunities to live and practice in some of the most sun exposed areas of the country including California, Hawaii, Texas and Florida.
Dr. Keel provides expert diagnosis and treatment of all conditions of the skin, hair and nails for persons of all ages including children and the elderly. He currently serves as the section chief of dermatology at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla. Beyond work, Dr. Keel enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, watching his kids play soccer and running on the beach—with lots of sunscreen!
