Tresa McGranahan, MD, PhD

As a neuro-oncologist, Tresa McGranahan, MD, PhD, cares for patients with brain or spinal cord tumors, including tumors that start in the brain or spinal cord and spread to other parts of the body. She also provides care for neurologic complications of cancer treatments, such as cognitive changes, headaches, neuropathy and immunotherapy complications. 

Dr. McGranahan’s philosophy is that the brain makes us who we are and is our most important organ. Unfortunately, as the organ with the least ability to heal itself, the brain is vulnerable to problems related to many cancer treatments. She believes keeping the brain and nervous system healthy is essential during cancer treatments and in survivorship. 

Dr. McGranahan’s research focuses on clinical trials that strive to prolong survival as well as improve quality of life for patients with primary and metastatic brain tumors. She has published many articles in peer-reviewed journals and authored book chapters.

Outside of her medical practice, Dr. McGranahan enjoys dance, travel and running. She is also a dedicated dog mom.
