Kathleen O’Brien, MD, provides medical dermatology care for a wide range of skin conditions affecting both adults and children, such as skin cancer prevention and treatment, acne, psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, bullous disorders and infantile hemangiomas. She performs outpatient surgery for both cancerous and non-cancerous diseases of the skin. In addition, Dr. O’Brien provides cosmetic dermatology care including injections, chemical peels and anti-aging treatments.
Dr. O’Brien believes in treating patients holistically, taking into account their physical, emotional and social needs, and educating them about their condition and treatment options to improve their quality of life and well-being. She enjoys studying the relationships between food, exercise, environmental exposures and dermatologic conditions, and working with other specialists to treat skin conditions related to systemic illnesses.
Dr. O’Brien also strives to advance the knowledge and practice of dermatology through innovation, and values collaborating with other experts to learn about new developments in the field. Additionally, she enjoys working on projects with students to further their interest in and knowledge of dermatology. She has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals.
Outside of her practice, Dr. O’Brien enjoys running, hot yoga, playing fetch with her two Bernese Mountain dogs at the beach, cooking new dishes in her air fryer and going on hiking/backpacking trips with her husband.
