Dr. Rola Khedraki is an advanced heart failure and transplant cardiologist at Scripps Clinic. Dr. Khedraki completed her general cardiology training at Scripps Clinic and her advanced cardiology training in heart failure and cardiac transplant at Cleveland Clinic.
Dr. Khedraki’s expertise lies in invasive hemodynamics and current and emerging therapies for patients along the continuum of heart failure. Her clinical focus is in treating conditions requiring highly specialized care including amyloid cardiomyopathy, cardiovascular care in cancer patients receiving chemotherapy or immunotherapy (cardio-oncology), cardiac sarcoidosis, genetic cardiomyopathy, pulmonary hypertension, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, myocarditis, valvular heart disease, peripartum cardiomyopathy, cardiogenic shock, as well as those with advanced heart failure requiring mechanical circulatory support devices and heart transplantation.
She performs a variety of invasive procedures including catheterization, intra-aortic balloon pump, endomyocardial biopsy and implantation of wireless pulmonary artery sensors.
Her research is focused on the translational integration of bench side and patient-oriented research in the field of amyloid cardiomyopathy, working closely and collaboratively with scientists at Scripps Research. She is actively engaged in national clinical research trials that help identify new treatment strategies for patients with heart failure. Dr. Khedraki's research has been published in peer-reviewed scientific journals and she has presented at national and international conferences.
She strives to maintain an academic mission that stimulates a robust scientific understanding of cardiovascular disease while implementing best practices in interacting with every patient at the bedside. She aims to always have a patient-centric approach that is focused on open communication and creating meaningful relationships with patients and their families so that they may reach their health goals.
Dr. Khedraki is heavily involved in several national committees including the American College of Cardiology, International Society of Heart and Lung Transplant and Heart Failure Society of America. She has a deep passion for medical education and has been the recipient of several teaching awards and serves as a faculty member for the adult cardiovascular fellowship program.
