Jean-Paul Abboud, MD, is an ophthalmic surgeon, fellowship-trained in oculofacial plastic and reconstructive surgery. He specializes in reconstructive and cosmetic eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), brow and forehead lifts, facial and orbital surgery and non-surgical procedures for facial rejuvenation.
With training in ophthalmology and cosmetic and reconstructive oculoplastic surgery, he has extensive experience with the delicate details of the eyes, eyelids and the surrounding area. He is uniquely qualified to manage diseases of the eye socket and lacrimal (tear draining) system, as well as facial and eyelid reconstruction after trauma or cancer removal.
Dr. Abboud completed his residency training at UCSD’s Shiley Eye Institute. He then completed fellowship training in orbital and oculofacial plastic surgery at West Virginia University, one of only four fellowship programs in the country sponsored by the American Society of Ophthalmic and Plastic Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS) and accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
He is passionate about teaching his craft and has authored several book chapters and peer-reviewed articles on various topics in oculofacial plastic surgery. He has presented his research and shared his experience and surgical techniques at several national and international conferences.
Outside of his practice, Dr. Abboud loves spending time with his wife and his two young children. He is fluent in Arabic and proficient in French. He is an avid artist who enjoys painting, photography and digital design.
