Scripps security expert shares steps to help curb violence

KPBS-TV News recently reported on a new California law implemented in 2025 that imposes stricter penalties for assaults against health care workers inside hospital emergency departments.


For insights into how Scripps Health is helping to reduce workplace violence, KPBS interviewed Todd Walbridge, the health system’s senior director for corporate and system safety and security. The news station also spoke with Scripps emergency medicine physician Clayton Whiting, MD, about his firsthand experiences with violent patients inside the hospital.
