Thomas Buchholz, MD, discusses prevention, early detection

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and FOX 5 News interviewed Thomas Buchholz, MD, about prevention and early detection strategies. Dr. Buchholz shared insights about modifiable behaviors associated with increased risk, such as physical inactivity and alcohol consumption. He also shared the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force’s screening recommendations for women at average risk for breast cancer, which call for mammograms every other year starting at age 40. Dr. Buchholz is the medical director of Scripps Caner Center and is a Scripps Clinic physician.
