Local media outlets recently covered an event marking the 100th anniversary of the opening of Scripps Health’s first hospital in downtown La Jolla. Over the decades, the health system has grown to include five hospital campuses and 30 outpatient centers and clinics in San Diego County.

The event, which was held on Sept. 17, featured speakers, 1920s music, cake and pineapple punch, the same refreshments served 100 years ago at the original hospital’s grand opening celebration.
