Tim Wang, MD, discusses innovative approaches to care

Knee injuries are common among athletes of all skill levels, but treatment is more challenging when damage occurs to multiple parts of the joint. Today, innovative approaches are offering new hope to patients like Tatum Vedder (pictured left).

A volleyball injury resulted in significant damage to Vedder’s knee, including her anterior cruciate ligament, meniscus, articular cartilage and femur. Scripps Clinic orthopedic surgeon Tim Wang, MD, devised a comprehensive surgical plan to return Vedder to action, including ACL reconstruction and two rare surgeries: a cartilage-and-bone transplant and meniscus transplant.
