Corey Ziegler receives novel treatment at Scripps

More young adults are being diagnosed with colorectal cancer across the United States in recent years. San Diegan Corey Ziegler knows about the trend firsthand, having been diagnosed with the disease at age 40. He underwent various treatments, which were followed by remission, recurrence and metastasis. That’s when Scripps Clinic gastrointestinal oncologist Darren Sigal, MD, decided to use a novel treatment — combination immune therapy, which is designed to overcome the tumor’s ability to evade the body’s immune system. The approach has been successful and Corey has had no evidence of disease for the past two years.
