FDA approved a continuous glucose monitoring system that doesn’t require a prescription
The recent decision by the FDA to approve the first continuous glucose monitoring system that doesn’t require a prescription is an “exciting” option for people with diabetes and even those without the disease to potentially learn more about their metabolic health, according to Scripps Clinic endocrinologist Athena Philis-Tsimikas, MD.
Dr. Tsimikas, who also is corporate vice president of the Scripps Whittier Diabetes Institute, commented on the topic in a recent “perspective” article published by the health news outlet Healio.
