CBS 8 Takes a Look at Advances in Prostate Cancer Treatment

September is national prostate cancer awareness month, and CBS 8 interviewed Ramdev Konijeti, MD, about the latest advances in fighting the disease and reducing side effects. He discussed the use of a gel-like material to create space between the patient’s prostate and rectum, which reduces radiation exposure to the rectum during treatment to help improve bowel quality of life. Dr. Konijeti is director of genitourinary cancer at Scripps MD Anderson Cancer Center and is a Scripps Clinic physician.
