Brings more than 30 years of experience in financial investment

Investment management executive Kevin Thomas Hamilton, CFA, was recently elected to the Scripps Health Board of Trustees for a three-year term.

 

“I am honored to welcome Kevin Hamilton to the Scripps Health Board of Trustees,” said Chris Van Gorder, president and CEO of Scripps Health. “He brings to our organization more than three decades of expertise in investment and business management, as well as a deep knowledge of board leadership, all of which are invaluable during a critical time of change and transformation in the health care industry.”

 

Hamilton has built a successful 34-year career in asset management, the last three of which have been as a private investment and management consultant. He has served as a community advisory member of the investment committee of the Scripps Health Board since 2017.

 

Previously, he worked as managing director of Rosemont Investment Partners, a boutique private investment firm, and First Foundation Advisors, a private client asset management firm. He was also president and partner at Rice Hall James and Associates, a San Diego-based institutional and private asset management firm.

 

Earlier in his career, Hamilton held leadership positions at Messner & Smith Investment Management in San Diego, and Montgomery Asset Management of San Francisco. He began his career at Analytic Investment Management, Irvine, in 1985.

 

Hamilton currently serves on the Board of Governors for the San Diego Foundation. He is vice chair of its investment committee, which provides fiduciary oversight of all investment assets.

 

From 1999 through 2011, Hamilton was an independent trustee for PayPal Funds, a mutual fund complex established by PayPal, Inc. He served as the fund’s independent chairman from 2004 through 2011, and was also a member of its audit, pricing and nominating committees during those years. He also served as a member of the financial committee for the Scripps Research Institute.

 

Hamilton obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and international relations from the University of Southern California in 1983, and a Master of Business Administration degree in 1985. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a member of the CFA Society of San Diego, and he completed the Leadership Development Program at the Center for Creative Leadership in 1999.

 

In his personal life, Hamilton has been a volunteer coach for Poway Pop Warner Football and has served on the boards of the Painted Rock Elementary School and the Painted Rock Foundation.
