Scripps Health Receives Highest Level of Accreditation for Medical Education
Scripps Health is pleased to announce that it has received its accreditation with commendation as a provider of continuing medical education by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME).
ACCME accreditation with commendation — or Level 3 — means that Scripps Health is among the top 8 percent of providers of Continuing Medical Education (CME) in the United States. Scripps has been a longstanding member of the ACCME, and offers three highly respected graduate medical education programs and numerous physician post-graduate fellowships. The accreditation term runs through March 31, 2016.
“This accolade places Scripps Health in the top tier of all CME providers, including some of the nation’s most prestigious medical schools and professional medical societies,” said Chris Van Gorder, president and CEO, Scripps Health. “We are proud to offer the highest level of educational opportunities for physicians and health care professionals as part of our promise to deliver exceptional health care.”
ACCME-accredited providers certify educational activities for AMA PRA (American Medical Association’s Physician’s Recognition Award) Category 1 Credit™. The AMA PRA is utilized by state licensing boards and boards of medical specialties to re-license physicians and re-certify them in their areas of specialty.
Through its Conference Services & CME department, Scripps Health offers nationally recognized annual conferences and is committed to providing exceptional educational courses. Conferences are offered in the following specialty areas:
- Cardiology
