Scripps Green Hospital recently appointed Michael Kosty, MD as medical director of its cancer center, a regional and national destination for people seeking specialized oncology services.

Scripps Green Hospital’s cancer center is an integral component of the Scripps Cancer Center (SCC), which mobilizes the collective resources of five hospital campuses in San Diego County and improves access to quality cancer care. Since 1975, Scripps Green Hospital has provided care for nearly 30,000 cancer patients—about one third of all patients in the SCC network.

Dr. Kosty joined Scripps Clinic Medical Group in 1989 and has held many leadership roles during his tenure. He is the director of Graduate Medical Education, as well as the director of the Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program. Dr. Kosty performs clinical research in thoracic and genitourinary malignancies, and is board certified in internal medicine, medical oncology and hematology.

“I am excited at the opportunity to enhance and improve the delivery of cancer care at Scripps Clinic and Scripps Green Hospital,” says Kosty. “I look forward to working closely with my surgical and medical colleagues to maintain the tradition of excellent, compassionate care that Scripps Clinic and Green Hospital have always provided for our patients.”

Dr. Kosty is a member of the American Society of Hematology and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), where he has served as chairman of the genitourinary program committee. He is currently a member of the ASCO Workforce Initiative Group and is chair-elect of the ASCO Oncology Training Program Committee.

Additionally, Dr. Kosty has worked as an investigator on many research projects and has served on multiple cancer-related committees at Scripps and for ASCO. He has published dozens of papers and abstracts.
