Dr. Michael Sise specializes in surgical critical care and vascular surgeries, such as aortic repair, laparotomy, endovascular surgery and video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery.
Following his medical training, he served as a U.S. Navy surgeon for 20 years and was chief surgeon on the USS Guam and Iwo Jima during operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He also served aboard the USS Constellation, Kitty Hawk, Ranger, Independence and other ships.|In addition to his practice, Dr. Sise is a dedicated teacher. He trains military surgeons for combat casualty care and is a senior faculty member at Naval Medical Center San Diego. He has served as a senior visiting surgeon at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany, helping military surgeons care for wounded warriors from Iraq and Afghanistan. He is also a clinical professor of surgery at the UC San Diego School of Medicine.|Dr. Sise lectures frequently on trauma, acute care surgery, vascular surgery and quality improvement at regional and national conferences. He has been recognized as one of San Diego’s Top Doctors by his colleagues in the San Diego County Medical Society.|Dr. Sise has held numerous leadership positions, including trauma medical director at Scripps Mercy Hospital. Under his leadership, the hospital was designated a Level I Trauma Center.
