Conference Overview
The Scripps Brain Injury and Neurological Rehabilitation Course will take place at its new, state of the art rehabilitation clinic in Encinitas, California. Participants will learn practical therapeutic interventions to care for patients and families that experience brain injury and neurological disorders. Through didactic lectures and hands-on breakout sessions, uniquely qualified experts in their field will discuss the evaluation and management of traumatic brain injuries (TBI), concussion, and neurological disorders.
Educational Objectives
After attending this live activity, participants should be able to:
- Describe the epidemiology of brain injury and its resultant impairments, disability, and psychosocial impact.
- Discuss practical therapeutic interventions for the management of psychological and behavioral problems common to brain injury and neurological disorders.
- Identify neurophysiological mechanisms involved in brain plasticity and their potential application to improving practice and service provision across rehabilitation disciplines.
- Demonstrate effective patient-provider communication strategies and integrate basic, interpersonal counseling skills.
Accreditation and Disclosures
Occupational Therapists
A Certificate of Completion will be provided to you at the end of the course. Most licensing boards will accept this certificate for continuing education hours. Please check with your licensing board for approval.
Physical Therapists
Approved for 8 hours toward license renewal, as per the Physical Therapy Board of California regulation 1399.94 (b) section F.
Speech–Language Pathologists
Intermediate Level

Attendees must attend a minimum of 4 hours to earn partial credit

Cultural & Linguistic Competency and Implicit Bias
This activity is designed to include curriculum addressing the topics of cultural and linguistic competency (CLC) and implicit bias (IB) in compliance with California Business and Professions (B&P) Code Section 2190. All those involved in the planning and execution of this activity have been asked to identify and discuss issues relevant to the topics being covered.
